Years ago while visiting Japan, I was invited to see how they created Japanese Lacquer Box art. The characteristic of Japanese lacquerware uses a technique called, "maki-e" where metal powder is sprinkled to attach onto black lacquer. After the demonstration, they invited me to create a small tray using the technique. I have always loved this type of artwork and this is a small tribute to it. The kanji on the back means, "Harmony".
